Canopy saw the opportunity to acquire, renovate to common building standards and reactivate the property back to its original form. Accomplishing these goals with the assistance of historic tax credits also allowed the property’s rental price point to hit a demand gap in the purpose built active adult rental market.
Granada Homes has provided affordable housing to the seniors of San Antonio for more than 50 years. In 2021, Canopy was selected to captain the efforts to renovate, restore and recapitalize Granada Homes in order to ensure this critical housing option remained in the core of San Antonio for decades to come.
With building systems well beyond their useful life and amenities which failed to meet the needs of the modern renter, Granada required a substantial renovation.
